Remarks Refers to freshwater form (Ref. 4925, 6885, 9988) and often used by anglers to refer to dark stream forms with intense colors as that of the 'rainbow' (Ref. 1998); 'trout' from Middle English from Old English 'truht' from Low Latin 'trocta, tructa', i.e., a fish with sharp teeth, from Greek 'troktes', i.e., gnawer, from 'trogein', i.e., to gnaw (p. 1266 in Ref. 11978).
