Ecology of Ituglanis passensis

Main Ref. Fernández, L. and M.E. Bichuette, 2002
Remarks Occurs in small riffles with slow current 15-20 cm deep on average. Exhibits cryptobiotic habits, hiding in the gravel bottom or under limestone blocks. No observed agonistic behavior. Water temperature (19-20°C) and pH (7.6-8.4) of location inhabited by this fish from 1999-2001 vary little during the dry, or at the end of the rainy, seasons. Temperature at the epigean reach, 18.7-22.8°C, presumably as a consequence of the buffering effect of the subterranean environment (Ref. 46923).
