Max. size:  8.4 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: middle and upper Congo River basin in Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ref. 41580, 41590, 41591, 106245, 106290). Reports from Loeme, Kouilou-Niari and Ogowe represent the revalidated Amphilius nigricaudatus (Ref. 81646). Identification of Chiloango and (marine) lower Congo specimens (Ref. 41590) is unclear (see also Ref. 81646).
