Family:  Engraulidae (Anchovies), subfamily: Engraulinae
Max. size:  6.2 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-neritic; marine; depth range 0 - 50 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: Mazatlán, Mexico. The single Ecuador specimen from La Plata Island should be treated with caution.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 21-25. Snout moderate, about 3/4 eye diameter; maxilla moderate, tip pointed, reaching onto inter-operculum, but not to edge of gill cover; gill cover canals of panamensis-type. Anal fin moderate, its origin under or just before midpoint of dorsal fin base. A broad silver stripe along flank, about width of eye.
Biology:  Occurs in coastal waters. More data needed.
