Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 4 - 26 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Philippines.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 67-71; Anal soft rays: 49-51; Vertebrae: 35-35. Description: Characterized by mottled brown color with widely scattered, large dark brown blotches; dorsal rays branched except first 9-16 rays; all anal rays branched; caudal rays 18; pectoral fins absent; lateral line of eyed side unbranched with 69-72 scales, including 6-7 anterior to upper end of gill opening; absence of caudal peduncle; ctenoid scales; tubular anterior nostril reaching or extending to beyond anterior edge of eye when laid back; fully scaled ocular side of snout, obscured upper lip; pelvic fins reaching base of third anal ray, longest ray 11.1-11.4 % SL; depth of body 2.4-2.6 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Specimens collected on sand in 4.5-15 m depth (Ref. 90102).
