Max. size:  9.05 cm SL (male/unsexed); 12.1 cm SL (female)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 0 - 10 m
Distribution:  Southeast Atlantic: South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 38-43; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-15; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 51-57; Vertebrae: 73-75. Head short, depressed, length 5.1-6.7 SL; lower jaw projects prominently; dorsal fin low, even, with the origin 0.7-1.8 of a head length behind the head; pre-dorsal length 25-31% SL; origin of anal fin slightly in advance of the dorsal fin origin; with pre-anal length 25-29% SL; caudal vertebrae 56-57 (Ref. 42968).
Biology:  Found in sandy areas, from the intertidal down to 10 m depth (Ref. 42968).
