Family:  Pomacanthidae (Angelfishes)
Max. size:  10 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 3 - 20 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Maldives (Ref. 11303) and Sri Lanka.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 14-15; Dorsal soft rays (total): 14-15; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 16-18. Description: Dark brown to black with hardly visible black vertical stripes on middle side and bluish spots. Pectoral fins golden brown; dorsal, caudal, and anal fins dark brown with bluish hue and blue margins (Ref. 4858). Body depth 1.9-2.1 in SL. Scales longitudinal series 44-46 (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Found in area of rubble with little coral growth. Occurs in small groups on semi-open substrate, Maximum depth reported taken from Ref. 48636.
