Family:  Pomacentridae (Damselfishes), subfamily: Pomacentrinae
Max. size:  5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 15 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: Bismarck Archipelago of Papua New Guinea (Ref . 84037). Re-examination of the type series of Chrysiptera sinclairi revealed that several of the paratypes are actually identifiable as Chrysiptera cymatilis (Ref. 31117).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 13-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-11; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 11-12. Description: Brilliant deep blue with lighter blue ocellus-like markings on head and breast, forehead brownish grey, and with black spot or blotch at base of posterior dorsal rays; caudal fin emarginate (Ref. 31117, 90102). Body depth 2.0-2.1 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Adults inhabit sheltered lagoon coral reefs (Ref. 7247). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205). Diurnal species (Ref. 52881).
