Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 30 - 100 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: known only from South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-8
Biology:  Found over rocky banks (Ref. 3198). Feeds on crustaceans, mollusks, worms, and small fishes. Seldom caught from the shore (Ref. 3198). Sold fresh in markets.
