Max. size:  23 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 8 - 8; dH range: 9 - 19
Distribution:  Africa: widely distributed in Lake Malawi, upper Shire River and Lake Malombe.
Diagnosis:  Diagnosis: easily recognised by its compressed head and body (Ref. 55954).
Biology:  Lives in vegetated areas in shallow water. Feeds on small fishes, mainly juvenile Utaka or other shoaling species (Ref. 5595).
