Africa: widespread in the Congo River basin, from the lower Congo up to Luapula-Moero and Lake Bangweulu (Ref. 1878), in Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Angola and Zambia. Also reported from the Malagarazi (Ref. 36901) in Tanzania (Ref. 4967). |

Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-21; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 11-11. Mouth inferior; numerous, large, blackish spots, all over the body; 16-21 dorsal fin rays (Ref. 122092). |
