Dorsal soft rays (total): 79-84; Anal soft rays: 57-64; Vertebrae: 34-35. This species is distinguished by the following characters: gill rakers with spines; maxilla large 2.21-2.43 in HL, extending to vertical through anterior 1/3 to 1/2 of lower eye; interorbital width narrow in both sexes, with that of males wider than in females and juveniles; pectoral fin on ocular-side filamentous, greatly elongate in males and with two dark cross bands; ventral margin of lower jaw on ocular-side with 3 distinct black spots, the posteriormost especially distinct (Ref. 126076).
Description. D 79-84, A 57-64, pectoral-fin rays on ocular-side 10-12, on blind-side 8-9, caudal-fin rays 3 + 11 + 3, pelvic-fin rays on ocular-side 6, blind-side rays 6; lateral line scales 46-52; gill rakers 0 + 6-7; vertebrae 10 + 24-25 (Ref. 126076). |
