Family:  Bothidae (Lefteye flounders)
Max. size:  6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range - 50 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: the only known specimens were collected off Amatikulu River, Natal, South Africa. Record from Delagoa Bay unconfirmed.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 81-87; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 62-65. Brownish with small dark spots on median fins; pectorals of eyed side with dark crossbar (Ref. 4417). Pectorals with 11-13 rays on eyed side, 8-10 rays on blind side (Ref. 4417).
Biology:  Found on mud bottoms; probably a small species.
