Family:  Percidae (Perches), subfamily: Etheostomatinae
Max. size:  6.7 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Altamaha and Flint River systems in Georgia to Navasota River system (Brazos River drainage) in Texas, USA; north in Former Mississippi Embayment to western Kentucky and southeastern Missouri in the USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits clay and sand-bottomed runs and pools of vegetated, spring-fed headwaters and creeks (Ref. 5723, 10294). Feeds on midge larvae, dipteran pupae, caddisfly larvae, dytiscid beetle larvae, and small crayfish (Ref. 10294).
