Family:  Cyclopteridae (Lumpfishes), subfamily: Eumicrotreminae
Max. size:  2 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 0 - 20 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Japan.
Diagnosis:  This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: absence of spiny tubercles or fleshy papillae on body; anterior three mandibular pores each with a barbel-like tube; interorbital and suborbital pores are usually absent; opercular flap rounded; ventral disk with many papillae; caudal-fin is relatively short, 21.0-30.5% of SL (Ref. 115553).
Biology:  Feeds on crabs (Ref. 9137).
