Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Tanzania, Arabian Sea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-13; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 13-13; Vertebrae: 49-51. Vent immediately anterior to the anal fin base rather than far forward; dentary teeth along more than half the distance from the symphysis to the angle of the gape; 5 branchiostegal rays; dusky blotches mainly above the midline of the body (Ref. 40914).
