Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 5.8 - 8
Distribution:  South America: La Venada Creek, Quindío-Santo Domingo River system, upper Cauca, Colombia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Vertebrae: 39-41. Diagnosed from all other species of the genus in having an elongate projection on fourth ventral neural arc near the first neural postzygoapophysis and a very reduced hooks on all fins and the posterior end of dorsal lobe of the caudal fin (Ref. 83513). Description: Dorsal fin iii,7; anal fin iii-iv,23-28; pectoral fin ii,9-11; pelvic fin ii,6 (Ref. 83513).
Biology:  Found in a creek characterized by an average dissolved oxygen of 5-8 mg/l and a relative humidity of 71-100%, conductivity of 301-367 us/cm, surface temperature of 18.5-24.5°C, and pH 5.8-8.0 (Ref. 83513).
