Family:  Scorpaenidae (Scorpionfishes or rockfishes), subfamily: Scorpaeninae
Max. size:  12.84 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 350 - 430 m
Distribution:  North Central Pacific: Kyushu-Palau Ridge and Emperor Seamounts.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 5-5; Vertebrae: 25-25. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: 9 dorsal-fin rays 9; 17-19 pectoral- fin rays; ctenoid scales in interorbital space and cycloid scales on belly; origin of the first dorsal-fin spine is slightly posterior to a vertical drawn through supracleithral spine base; posterior tip of pectoral fin do not reach the anal-fin origin; head length 44.4-46.0% SL (Ref. 91153).
