Max. size:  22 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 0 - 50 m
Distribution:  North-west Pacific: Hong Kong and Singapore (Ref 90102).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 17-17; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 10-10. Description: Characterized by having mainly dark brown to greyish color; pectoral, soft dorsal, caudal and anal fins with pale band; brownish inner surface of pectoral fin with small dark spots and broad, whitish band across middle of fin; first three dorsal spines broadly connected with membrane, remaining spines with membrane only on basal half; lower two pectoral rays free of membrane; absence of scale; eyes slightly elevated; short snout; depth of body about 3.5-3.6 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Inhabits sand or mud bottoms to about 50 m (Ref 90102).
