Dorsal spines (total): 7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 6-7. Diagnosis: predorsal scales absent; 37-39 scales in longitudinal series (including scales on caudal fin base); 13-14 scales in rearward transverse series; 13-14 pectoral-fin rays (Ref. 57413).
Description: ctenoid scales on flanks; 1st dorsal fin: VI; second dorsal fin: I,8; anal fin: I,6-7; pectoral fins: 13-14; caudal fin rounded with 15 segmented rays, 13 of which are branched; perhaps only 4 prearticular neuromast rows on ventral part of head, running transversely from lower jaw towards gular region (Ref. 57413).
Coloration: Preserved specimens: yellowish-brown with irregular brown crossbars and a vertical, black band at base of caudal fin; fins more or less pigmented, with black spots sometimes forming bands; 1st dorsal fin may be darker than 2nd dorsal and anal fins (Ref. 57413). |
