Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Torinae
Max. size:  26.2 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: known from the Upper Akagera system in Rwanda (Ref. 35818, 46152) and Burundi (Ref. 98755). The introduction of tilapia and some Haplochromis may have been the reason for the decimation or extinction of the species in Lake Luhondo (Ref. 35818).
