Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Lower Guinea endemic, known from southern Cameroon (Ref. 81639) to the Chiloango River in Cabinda (Ref. 81639, 120641).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 1-1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Diagnosis: mouth strongly curved; barbels absent; last unbranched dorsal fin ray strongly ossified and inflexible; pelvic fin insertion below middle of dorsal fin; 26-29 scales in lateral line (Ref. 81639). Description: body depth 28.3-38.9% SL; head length 20.7-26.2% SL; no papillae around mouth but usually with tubercles on snout; D: III,9-10; A: III,5; scale formula: 4.5-5.5/26-29/-; 2.5-3.5; 12; 3.5 scales from lateral line to anal fin origin (Ref. 81639). Coloration: alcohol-preserved specimens light brown dorsally, paler ventrally (Ref. 81639).
Biology:  Maximum TL recorder: 37.0 cm (Ref. 2801).
