Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Labeoninae
Max. size:  22 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: known only from the type locality, the Kinabatangan and Segama river basins in Sabah, northeastern Borneo, Malaysia.
Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 35-36. Distinguished from all other species of Labiobarbus by having only 18-22 branched dorsal rays (versus 22 or more), a very thick head and body, and a very steep dorsal profile, concave at the nape. Maxillary barbel very long, extending posteriorly well beyond eye (Ref. 7424).
