Family:  Myctophidae (Lanternfishes), subfamily: Lampanyctinae
Max. size:  13.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 800 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Convergence species in all three oceans.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-14; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 13-14. Body uniformly black, each fin slightly blackish (Ref. 27363).
Biology:  Oceanic and mesopelagic. Found in about 700 m during the day and below 60 m at night.

Threat to humans:  harmless
