Max. size:  16 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 9 - 115 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Common on sand or mud on continental shelves; found at depths down to 115 m. Feeds mainly on crustaceans and mollusks. Of little economic importance, bycatch of bottom trawls. Flesh is firm and delicious (Ref. 13710).
