Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 50 - 2000 m
Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: New Zealand. Eastern Pacific: south from 38°N and east of about 173°W; also found in the Gulf of Panama (Ref. 35950), and off Chile (Ref. 9068).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 26-30; Vertebrae: 76-89. Branchiostegal rays: 8.
Biology:  Epipelagic and mesopelagic and bathypelagic (Ref. 35950). Oviparous, with planktonic larvae (Ref. 35950).
