Environment:	bathypelagic; marine; depth range 35 - 1320 m
Distribution:	Circumglobal: tropical and subtropical.
Diagnosis:	Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 40-44; Vertebrae: 91-98. Body pale with dark dorsal band (Ref. 4056).
Biology:	Oceanic species (Ref. 26340). Epi- to bathypelagic, perhaps benthopelagic (Ref. 58302). Young found between 10-200 m while juvenile and adult specimens between 400-800 m (Ref. 4473). Minimum depth reported taken from Ref. 4473.
