Max. size:  14 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi. Common in the southern part.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits shallow waters with muddy bottoms in sheltered bays. Feeds on small invertebrates, and also on zooplankton and occasionally diatoms (Ref. 5595).
