Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-8; Vertebrae: 24-24. This specie is distinguished by the following characters: D VIII,12, with dorsal fin continuous with eighth dorsal spine slightly longer than sixth and seventh spines; A III, 8; pectoral-fin rays 14-15; lateral line scales 46-49; anterior nostril at front of snout; longest dorsal soft ray 2.1-2.3 in head length (HL); first anal-fin spine 10.4-12.2 in HL, second anal-fin spine 4.4-4.9 in HL; pelvic fin is relatively short, 5.1-5.7 in SL; body depth 3.2-3.6 in SL; colour pinkish red with a blackish stripe extending from snout along midlateral body and on to centre of caudal-fin base, numerous blackish
semicircular spots on back, lower sides and soft dorsal and caudal fins (Ref. 93103). |
