Distribution:  Africa: Lake Tanganyika.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Concealed mostly among rocks during daytime. Nocturnal habits prevail (Ref. 45232). Feed on chironomid larvae, beetle larvae and small crustaceans with occasional ingestion of vegetable material (Ref. 6868). Of no food value (Ref. 4967). Mucus is poisonous to other fishes (Ref. 4537).
