Diagnosis: |
Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal soft rays: 17-19. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: free vertebrae 43-44; anal-fin rays 17-19 ; long dorsomedian groove on head (33.7-40.1% HL); U-shaped junction of dorsomedian head ridge; vomerine tooth patches on both sides are fused along the midline (specimens longer than 12.7 cm SL); tip of dorsal-fn spine attenuated into a filament; longest dorsal-fn ray 26.9-35.9% SL (Ref. 121274). |
