Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Smiliogastrinae
Max. size:  3.87 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: River Dibru in Assam, India.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal soft rays: 7-7. Differs all other speces of Oreichthys by having the following characters:lateral line complete; 30+1 scales in the lateral line series; ½4/1/2½ scales in the transverse row; nine predorsal scales; and bright yellow pelvic fins (Ref. 95042).
Biology:  Occurs mainly in open water with silt as the substrate and with little or no aquatic vegetation (Ref. 95042).
