Family:  Pomacentridae (Damselfishes), subfamily: Pomacentrinae
Max. size:  11 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 43 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea and the east African coast south to Natal, South Africa. Reported as likely to occur at Seychelles in Smith & Smith 1963 (Ref. 1623) but not listed as such in Allen 1991 (Ref. 7247).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 14-14; Dorsal soft rays (total): 14-16; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 15-17. Exhibits geographic color variations.
Biology:  Adults inhabit inshore and offshore coral reefs (Ref. 7247). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).
