Max. size:  28.6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Nujiang river system in Yunnan, China.
Diagnosis:  Differs from P. carinatus in having a somewhat smaller head and smaller eye, and in lacking a stripe on body above the lateral line and submarginal stripes on caudal fin lobes; The 28.6 cm syntype has 10 gill rakers on outer edge of the first gill arch (Ref. 35912).
