Max. size:  17.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 37 - 300 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: North Carolina and northern Gulf of Mexico to southern Florida in USA; northern coast of South America (Ref. 5217).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 9-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-13; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 11-11
Biology:  Inhabits offshore waters, mostly from 73-180 m depth. Minimum depth from Ref. 26912.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 21 August 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
