Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 26 - 120 m
Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: Great Barrier Reef to islands in Oceania.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 17-17; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 9-9
Biology:  Inhabits caves or coral rubble along steep drop-offs or channel walls. Feeds on larvae of crustaceans and fish eggs (Ref. 89972). Secretive (Ref. 37816).
