Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Smiliogastrinae
Max. size:  7 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6 - 8; dH range: 5 - 19
Distribution:  Asia: Sumatra and Borneo. Introduced widely and has been reared in several countries in facilities for breeding aquarium fishes (Ref. 1739).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Feeds on worms, small crustaceans and plant matter (Ref. 7020). Aquarium keeping: in groups of 5 or more individuals; not to be kept with long-finned fishes; minimum aquarium size 60 cm (Ref. 51539).
