Family:  Scorpaenidae (Scorpionfishes or rockfishes), subfamily: Scorpaeninae
Max. size:  9.2 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 6 - 27 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Mauritius to Kwazulu-Natal (South Africa); including most probably RĂ©union and Madagascar.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 5-5; Vertebrae: 24. Second anal spine long (1.55-1.75 in HL). Largest specimen (92 mm SL) (Ref 42181).
