Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine
Distribution:  Southeast Atlantic: Cape Point to the Bashee River in South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 28-31; Dorsal soft rays (total): 4-6; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 19-21. Color greenish, brown or yellow with obscure mottlings and bars; iridescent pearly spot under pectoral fins (Ref. 5496).
Biology:  Found amongst subtidal seaweeds.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 07 May 2010 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
