Max. size:  9.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 20 - 500 m
Distribution:  Atlantic, Indian, and Western Pacific: in tropical waters.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 36-38
Biology:  Oceanic species (Ref. 26340) occurring from about 20 m (young) to about 500 m depth. Known only from juvenile specimens, probably attains more than 20 cm (Ref. 4056).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 04 February 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
