Family:  Uranoscopidae (Stargazers)
Max. size:  22 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 15 - 345 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Indo-Australian Archipelago.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 4-5; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-14; Anal soft rays: 12-15. Body reddish brown, usually scattered with pale spots, but rarely with minute reticulations in adults (Ref 42788).
Biology:  Inhabits trawling grounds over sand bottom. Feeds mainly on fishes.
