Transverse rugae lining gut; fin rays form in finfold, away from body margin; distinguished from Nansenia candida by presence of internal head pigment, caudal pigment on preflexion larvae, and presence of fewer spots over gut. Pigmentation: internal head pigment; series of ventral trunk blotches extending from pectoral fin to end of gut; 1-2 large blotches postanal with a large caudal blotch; blotches expand with development. Sequence of fin development: caudal, dorsal and anal, pectorals, pelvics. |
