Comments: Reported from Abra River in Luzon, Rio Grande de Mindanao, Tamontaka River and Pulangi River in Cotabato (Ref. 108830), Lake Naujan (Ref. 13446). Migrated into Lake Mainit via the Tubay River, Mindanao (Ref. 4867, 13446, 81829) and Kalinawan River (Ref. 81829). Highly priced in Cotobato, Mindanao (Ref. 2858). Considered a delicacy in the southern part of the Philippines (Ref. 2858). Also Ref. 2847, 48489.

Adults inhabit salt and brackish waters of bays and estuaries, penetrating into fresh water (Ref. 1601). Juveniles are sometimes found in streams within 5-10 km of the sea (Ref. 2847). Eggs are guarded and fanned by the male parent (Ref. 205).
