Radios blandos dorsales (total) : 11 - 12; Radios blandos anales: 20. It is distinguished from all other species of Characidium from southern Brazil, except C. sp. cf., C. zebra, in having 14 series of scales around the caudal peduncle (Ref. 27672).
Usually found in creeks or small rivers with rocky bottom and clear, fast flowing water (Ref. 27672).
