Comments: Known from the upper Mississippi River and Lake Michigan drainages in Wisconsin, eastern Minnesota, eastern Iowa, and northern Illinois; Ozarkian streams in Missouri, northern Arkansas and northeast Oklahoma; Green, Cumberland and Tennessee River drainages from Kentucky to Alabama and east to Virginia and North Carolina; and Mobile Bay drainage in Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. Introduced into Escambia River in Alabama. Extirpated from central Illinois (Ref. 86798). Also Ref. 5723.
