Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 58 - 64; Raggi anali molli: 49 - 55. Pectoral fin rays ocular side 7-12, blind 7-10. Pelvic fin rays on both sides 6. Body somewhat oval. Head small, compressed (21.8-27.8% SL). Mouth oblique, small, almost asymmetrical on both sides. Scales small, deciduous, on ocular side mostly ctenoid, cycloid on cleithrum and urohyal; blind side cycloid. Snout, eyes, jaws, and dorsal, anal, and pelvic fins without scales. Four longitudinal series of melanophores (present as spots) on ocular side, six series on blind side.
