Known only from a seasonal swamp, middle São Francisco River basin in Município de Bom Jesus da Lapa, Estado da Bahia. The swamp consists of shallow channels within a savannah forest, situated in a shallow depression running perpendicular to the São Francisco River. The depression extends

to the west towards the São Francisco River, where the area is intensively deforested and to the east by about 4.5 km within swampy savannah forest. Considered a rare and vulnerable species due to its small area of ocuurence (Ref. 89836).
