Definition of Term

egg survey
(English) The abundance of eggs and larvae in an area, determined by sampling with appropriate gear, e.g. small meshed midwater trawls, plankton nets, bamboo traps. Used to estimate the size of the spawning stock and/or the importance of spawning. (See also: egg, larvae, spawning stock)
