Marine Science Institute of Andalusia (ICMAN)
(English) Marine Science Institute of Andalusia (ICMAN), Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), Campus Universitario Rio San Pedro, 11510 Puerto Real (Cádiz), Spain. The collection was the result of the 4 expeditions, from CSIC Lab. at Cádiz, 1958-59, studying the Senegalese hake and the interaction between tropical and Atlanto-mediterranean faunas off Banc d'Arguin. Originally catalogued in the first sixties, a global taxonomic review concerning this collection should be performed. Computerized only for the fishes coming from Senegal. Loans are not possible, but the material can be studied in the collection. Types: 187 fish species, 78 families are represented. No catalogue has been published. Special features: Atlantic Ocean, 1500 km coast fauna, from Cape Bojador to Guinea Bissau; bathymetrical distribution after the sizes, for the Banc d'Arguin and Senegal fishes; this bathymetric data must be checked for errors, redisplayed within a GIS, and standardised; the fish ages undetermined. This collection has been considered by Species 2000, CODATA '99 DSAO Workshop, Tsukuba 1999. E-mail: bibmar@cica.es
