Remarks | Exhibits sexual dimorphism in the development of some of the anterior soft rays in the dorsal fin. A female measuring 24.4 cm SL has anterior dorsal soft rays much less elongated (second >27% SL, third >32.7% SL vs. third 56.8% SL, fourth ca. 62% SL in a male measuring 30.1 cm SL). |

Diagnosis |
Differs from all other congeners by its lips mostly covered with very small scales, upper lip lacking rugosities, lower lip with rugosities along dorsal part; and maxilla almost squared off poteriorly where dorsal and posterior boarders of maxilla forming a right angle (Ref. 78426). |
